Michael Joseph Lassiter Foundation was created out of a passion for helping others and seeing individuals present in their wellbeing. Michael Joseph Lassiter Foundation is a way to react to the negative influences surrounding mental illnesses, addiction, and chronic pain. After finding out that their brother had battled with mental health and substance abuse for many years, founder, Anna Estus and co-founder Jennifer Lassiter, both tried for many years to help their brother deal with the problems he would face daily. Later he shared that he would hear voices and expressed the reason he would drink alcohol or do drug drugs was to drown out those voices, our family tried so many different rehabs, treatments, and even at times – tough love.
It was very difficult at times to help their brother, but they did the best they could with the resources they had. He was the most loving and giving person but battled many psychiatric issues. On June 4, 2021, Anna and Jennifer lost their brother at the age of 39 due to an accidental overdose. After all these years, they are now having to face the worst thing that could happen to their family. To keep the fight going on in their brother’s name “The Michael Joseph Lassiter Foundation” will dedicate their skills and knowledge to build something great. Mike was loved by so many, and a piece of our family is missing. We will miss his smile and infectious laugh. Through his foundation, we will honor his memory and advocate for those who are truly in need.
